Lemons for Life PDF Print E-mail

I am certain that you have heard the old saying, "When life hands you a lemon, then make lemonade?" Well, I’ve utilized that very philosophy while on this journey. The problem that I am currently experiencing is the fact that so many people are effected and/or affected with this economic recession, that no one has the money to buy the lemonade!

Another saying that I have employed is, "You can get bitter or better." I have chosen the later, but sometimes it is through gritted teeth. Life is certainly about choices–both the good as well as the bad. The challenge is finding God in the midst of each. It isn’t always easy to find him in the good choices nor is it always difficult to find him in the bad ones. It all comes down to love–the Father’s love I should add. You know you are in that love when you feel good even though you know you should feel bad. It’s the kind of good feeling that a cup of hot cocoa on a really cold and blustery day gives you–warm deep inside.

I heard a story that I’d like to pass along.

One day God turned to his son and said, "Son, I have something that I need you to do for me." The son replied, "Sure dad. What is it?" His Father cleared his throat and said, "Son, I need you to go down to planet earth and convey my love to mankind." "Wow!" said the Son. "When do you want me to go?" he asked. "I don’t think you quite understand Son. I need you to convey just how deeply my love is for them. Sadly," his voice cracked, "they will not except your offer. They will hate you, mock you, lie about you, savagely hurt you and even kill you. But don’t worry Son, I’ll not allow you to stay dead long, I’ll raise you back to life again."

The Son silently gazed at his father before answering. "Gee Dad, I had no idea that it was that important to you." "It is," his Father answered. "So, what do you say. Will you go?"

By this time tears were streaming down both their faces when the Son said, "Sure dad. I love you too much to ever tell you no."

For God so loved the world that dared to ask such a thing of his son. The Son so loved the Father, that he dared to come.

That is the kind of love that I am talking about. That kind of love desires to wrap "their" arms around you and hung you, and squeeze you and tell you that it’s going to be all right.

It’s kinda sad that it has taken a journey such as this to learn such a lesson as that. But I’ll tell you that I wouldn’t trade the journey with all its "stuff" for anything for such lessons as that!

God bless your heart!
